All of us have at one point or another in our lives either read in newspapers or heard from someone
a horror story about a person succumbing to his or her injuries simply because his blood type could
not be determined in time or because no one knew that he or she was allergic to a certain medicine.
Still we all refuse to do anything about it when all that it needs is a plain piece of paper, a pen
and 10 minutes of your time…
What are you waiting for then? Put that pen to the paper and write down the following for each
member of your household:
Full Name
Age
Address
Blood Group
Emergency contact information
Allergies to medicines, if any
And for the elderly people, following additional information has to be specified:
Blood Pressure
Ailments that the person is suffering from – diabetes, heart problems etc.
List of current medications
Name and address of family physician in case any additional information is needed
It is sufficient to carry this paper everywhere you go and make everyone in your house do the
same with their papers. But the Citizen Group can also do the following:
If possible, issue the ID cards with a photo ID
Make every society or apartment complex keep a record of every member.
Make a special list of people with rare blood group so blood donation can be arranged
in case of any medical emergency or disaster management.
